Our tester was amazed when he took the new Familiano L-N out for its first laps: The agility of the e-bike generated by the compact wheels is great, and it is wonderfully direct to control. The riding feel: close to that of a normal bike. The Kettler engineers have done a lot right here. The contact to the road is very direct, in contrast to its big brother Cargoline. Damping is only generated by the tires when the air pressure is set correctly. The editors tested the Familiano with two water boxes in the rear, which fit exactly in the carrier, on the route that leads through the huge Stuttgart 21 construction site: right, left, up and down, traffic lights here, pedestrians there. That demands nerves of steel and increased attentiveness. But when a bike functions as well as the Familiano, your attention belongs entirely to the traffic. The continuously variable hub gears are easy to operate with the twist grip shifter and shift well even under pedal load. The Ab. and Aufständern requires some routine, by the geometry with the quite flat seat tube one finds easily safe stand when stopping. Mounting and dismounting is possible without acrobatics course.
Conclusion: With up to two children or the weekly groceries loaded, the Familiano L-N rides extra agile and thanks to the powerful Bosch drive also very fast. For experienced cyclists.
